Drink driving short course
All drivers who commit and are convicted of a drink driving offence will need to complete a short online drink driving course.
If you don’t complete the course, you won’t be able to apply for your driver licence for 5 years:
- from the end of your disqualification period
or - from the date you were granted a work licence by a court.
About the course
The first-time drink driving course is called Plan.Drive.Survive. Foundations.
To complete the course you will need to:
- enrol in the course and pay a fee, you will have access for 12 months
- have access to a smart device or computer and connection to the internet
- allow at least 1 hour to complete the course
- complete a series of modules online.
You can complete the course anytime during your disqualification period. When you complete the course successfully it remains valid for 5 years. This means if you are convicted of drink driving again within 5 years of completing the course, you won't have to do it again. However, you may need to complete the repeat drink driving course
No internet access
If you don't have internet access at home or another location like a library, you can request a printed version of the course from your nearest transport and motoring customer service centre.
